Mondays, Death and Other Four Letter Words ☠
Your time is running out, are you making the most of it?
Welcome to June 🤯 Are you ready for summer break, soaring temps and kids running around with endless unstructured time? We’re not sure either.
Career Advice: Count Your Mondays
If you knew how many Mondays you had left to make your imprint on the world, would it change what you do today?
We’re currently reading You Only Die Once by Jodi Wellman where she persuasively encourages the practice of counting how many Mondays you have left to ensure a life well lived.
On average, we have 4,000 Mondays in our lifetime. Let’s do some math to determine how many Mondays you have left (barring an asteroid falling on you today).
I have approximately 2,100 Mondays left. Does your number evoke a feeling of urgency or dread? Don’t worry, we’re here to help you move you forward, not send you spiraling. Here is a simple framework to ensure we are making the most of our time:
One year from now, if things are going exactly the way you want, what are you doing? 🤔
Write down what you need to start, stop and keep doing to get you to your one year ideal state ✍️
Break down your start, stop and keep doing list into small tasks, i.e. your step by step guide that takes you to your ideal state 🧾
Get out a calendar and plot those tasks into weekly milestones 🗓️
Keep counting down Mondays, review progress and adjust milestones as needed 5️⃣ 4️⃣ 3️⃣ 2️⃣ 1️⃣ 0️⃣
Counting Mondays is a simple yet powerful practice that can transform your ability to prioritize the most important areas of your life and supercharge your focused efforts.
We have 32 Mondays left in 2024, ready go. 🚀
