Did Someone Say Pumpkin Spice Latte?☕️
How to be the human equivalent of this seasonal favorite in your workplace.
The autumn lattes and decor may be out in full force but so is mother nature. We are thinking about those who were in the path of Hurricane Helene this weekend. We hope you are staying safe.
If you have the means to give, we love how this organization quickly activates and provides tangible help in times of crisis.
Now for a tough transition…
Career Advice: Be the Pumpkin Spice Latte of Your Workplace
@fallontonight via giphy
Ah, fall. It’s the season when the humble pumpkin spice latte becomes the undeniable superstar of coffee shops everywhere. Love it or hate it, you can’t ignore it. But what does a PSL have ANYTHING to do with career advice? Well since the rest of the world is jumping on the bandwagon we thought it would be fun to see if we could correlate the PSL to your work life, so here it goes…
Here’s how you can be the Pumpkin Spice Latte of your workplace:
Be distinct, not divisive
The pumpkin spice latte has opinions. You either live for it or can't stand it. In the workplace, you don’t need everyone to love you—but you do need to be noticed.Show up when it counts
The PSL shows up only at a certain time of year and owns it. Likewise, be the person who brings energy when it's needed most.Create comfort
People crave pumpkin spice for its warmth and comfort. In your role, be the source of consistency, whether it’s a dependable work ethic, reliability in delivering results, or creating an environment where others feel supported.Know when to step aside
PSLs aren’t around forever, and that’s part of their charm. Being irreplaceable isn't about hogging the spotlight, but about leaving a lasting impression.
So, are you ready to be the workplace equivalent of the pumpkin spice latte?
Be memorable, bring value, and add your own unique blend of energy.
Just don’t overdo it—we all know what happens when there’s too much syrup in the cup.
Tell Me Somethin’good:
In 2016, university students learned that they could more effectively take notes by all working in the same Google document:
We think this method could also be incredibly productive in the workplace! Especially if you are working on a large scale cross-functional project that requires a lot of meetings.
Just think about all the miscommunication you could avoid if everyone is taking notes together in the same document in real time 🤯
We think this could be quite transformative, but are curious to know have you ever tried it?
Have you ever taken shared meeting notes in one Google Doc? |
